I've got the most boring job of my life right now. Also, there is absolutely no internet access, so there's not much to do other than work. It's ridiculous. When I'm doing computer tasks I listen to my iPod, which is great. (See: my Britney Spears post.) But I spend the majority of my time at work on the phone with the Medicare office call center.
So, in order to pass the time a little more happily, I decided to start keeping a list of every single person at Medicare that I've talked to and assign each one a rating of one to five stars. (The quality of the telephoning experience varies widely based on whom you get, and this way I will be able to set my expectations appropriately at the start of the call.)
I'm guessing that by the end of my month here it will be one or two pages longer.

The one other fun thing I do at work (besides breaks for tea and lunch, and drinking lots of terrible instant coffee, black) is customize the look of the terminal program that I use on the computer. It's just a telnet shell thing, and it defaults to a hideous blue and teal color scheme. After a total of probably about half an hour of trying new colors, I've settled on a lovely navy blue background with bold text in white, normal text in a very pale gray, and blinking text in a pale, but not too pale, yellow. My computer terminal looks ridiculously classy. Sadly I can't reproduce it for you here. I'll probably write down the color values and then come up with something new for next week. Something bolder, but still something I can stare at for eight hours.
My other passtime is fiddling with the office supplies.
Voila:

Outside of work, there are these creepy little pigeon/parrot things. Does any of you know what they are? (Other than "creepy.")
