black and white, left to right

I like this picture I took this in the elevator on the way home from work today. I desparately needed a new facebook profile picture to replace the horribly misguided one I'd taken and posted the night before. This was the first (of two) shots I took, (it's a really short elevator ride), and I barely even glanced at the viewfinder/camera display screen before I took it, so I was very surprised at how well, I think, it turned out. I did clean up a bunch of minor stuff in Photoshop:

- the usual fussing with curves to up the contrast
- my belt buckle was off to the side, so I recentered it (cloning tool)
- there was too much hair in my face so I took some out (cloning tool)
- removed some lint from my jacket (cloning tool)
- took the big ugly boookmark out of the book (cloning tool, smudge tool)
- took the strap off the camera, as it was blocking my lovely neck (cloning tool, smudge tool)
- took the stubble off my lovely neck (dodge tool)
- I had a lot of stuff in my pockets, which looked silly, so I took that out (cloning tool)
- the bright blue lanyard attached to my security pass was hanging out of my pocket, so I took that out (cloning tool)
- unsharp mask to make the picture seem crisper and more in focus

(As I was told when I took those aptitude tests that time), I really do like symmatry a lot.

Work is dull. My roommates and I bought halloween pumpkins, which we hope to carve soon.
